Halloween Costumes by Mrs. Techman

I love reading about some of my favorite authors and this morning, I was looking at one of the best blogs about books and authors (Watch.Connect. Read. - famous for videos and interviews) and saw some amazing costumes. These are made by Tad Hills, author of the book (and app) Rocket Learns to Read and other books.
Halloween monster by Tad Hills. Love those teeth!
I know it's early to be mentioning Halloween (unless you're trying to sell things, in which case you started in August!), but I love clever costumes and cardboard. These are great! See more at his site:

    1. Hi everyone- Hmmm Meme, That's a tough one. I think you should pick something that would be fun to make. It doesn't even have to make sense or look like something. sometimes the greatest costume is the most unexpected or most different from all the other costumes. Have fun!
Miles-The teeth of the monster are short strips of carved wood. Pine. it is the perfect color for yellow monster teeth.
Haley- I dont know about an App for monster eyeballs. For the eyes i start out w 15 seconds of video of my eyeballs. In iMovie I repeated the video over and over again until it was an hour long, Then I made a copy of that video and flipped it so the eyes are mirror images of each other. You have to remember to turn of your phone though. My son Charlie's eye started ringing while he was trick or treating!
Dylan-I use fake fur that I bought in Manhattan NYC. Im sure your parents could help you find some online though.
Jesse- I started out as a an artist. I painted oil paintings on canvas and made sculpture from clay and cardboard. The first costumes I made for my kids were made of fabric or fake fur that I sewed on a machine. Then I started using cardboard and hot glue guns (which can burn your fingers badly if you're not very careful...)
Thank you Andrew, Dan and the rest of you for your comments and compliments. Take care, Happy Halloween! Tad

    3. Hi Tad I really like that costume you made. I would have never ever think of something like that. You must have master skills. How did you make the costumes fit people? Have you ever made any costumes that did not work out?

  2. Hello Melissa,

I had been checking on some quadblogging schools and came across this blog. I must say, the Halloween monster caught my attention.

When I was a child, we didn't celebrate Halloween in Australia. However, I have seen it growing in popularity in my town over the last ten years, mostly because children have seen TV programs from America.

With only a month to go, I have already been preparing for the visits of all sorts of strange creatures. From only six packs of treats in 2005, I now prepare about 60. On the night, I have a large pumpkin print on display in my window so children know my house is Halloween friendly although most homes still aren't.

I hope everyone in your school enjoys Halloween.
